GPS Marine offers a range of services that is unique in the marine contracting sector and covers dredging, towage, inland and coastal transport, coastal and international towage, marine engineering and piling, marine demolition, salvage and heavy lift.
Towage
Services provided by GPS Marine include coastal and international towage of ships, pontoons, dredging and construction equipment throughout the Extended European Trading Area. Services also include inland and in port towage in support of marine civil engineering, construction and dredging projects.
Dredging
GPS’ operations include maintenance and capital works utilizing the backhoe method of dredging. Dredgings disposal can be carried out by our fleet of split and bottom door hoppers or by means of our 1600 bhp reclamation dredger. Our equipment can also be chartered or contracted in support of the dredging operations of third parties.
Transport of Goods and Equipment by Barge
GPS Marine transports more tons of cargo by barge on the River Thames than any other operator. Cargoes include containers, aggregates, slurries and spoil. GPS Marine is also able to undertake the movement of unusual cargoes and structures on coastal and international voyages utilizing flat top barges both from its own fleet and from those of its associates.
Marine Engineering and Demolition
GPS Marine carries out piling work onshore and in rivers and harbours throughout Europe. Recent projects have included the sheet piling of wharf frontage and driving tubular piles of various sizes up to 2M in diameter and 56M long. GPS Marine has also recently undertaken a contract for the refurbishment and installation of a concrete batching pontoon, a contract that has included major steelworks, general refurbishment, towage and piling.
Heavy lift
The marine heavy lift division operates 3 sheerlegs with a lifting capacity of 1150 tons. Heavy lift operations can be carried out worldwide utilizing elements of the sheerleg fleet that is based in the Rotterdam area. GPS’ heavy lift operations regularly involve the designing of lifts and the provision of lift supervisors. The routine heavy lift operations undertaken by the company involve the lifting of ship hulls, port cranes and ship sections as well as the installation and maintenance of container cranes and loading arms.
Salvage
Tugs, sheerlegs and other elements of the GPS Marine fleet, supported by the vastly experienced Sliedrecht based salvage team, are available day and night throughout the year. Salvage operations on seagoing and inland craft are routinely undertaken worldwide. Between January 2006 and June 2007 at total of 28 salvages were successfully completed in various locations between Puerto de Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Eemshaven
