GPS ILLYRIA TO ENTER SERVICE SOON

The refit of the twin screw IHC built tug GPS Illyria was finally completed in October, a full 12 months after the vessel’s purchase from dredging major Jan De Nul. The 14m tug has under gone a full refit which has included the renewal of both main engines and her auxiliary engine and alternator as well as all engine controls and electronics. The repowering of the tug has not only delivered dramatic fuel efficiency improvements but has also delivered significant improvements in emissions. The tug has been coded under the SCV code for operations up to 20 miles offshore and has been equipped for a wide range of towing, pushing and support roles. Now being almost 500 bhp it is envisaged that the tug will prove to be extremely useful in day to day lighterage operations as well as in project support roles on the Thames and elsewhere.

Delivery to the UK took place in October 2016 and the tug is expected to enter service in November or December ’16, if you would like to see the spec sheet please click below.
